What You Need to Know About the Pennsylvania Militia
What is the Militia?
To put it in simplest terms, the militia is - all able bodied citizens who are capable of bearing arms.
The last line of defense against any threat to the state or country, whether it be natural or man made,
foreign or domestic. Basically a civil defense or community watch group.
The militia has been around since America was a British colony. The American militia was
originally formed by colonists to fight off attacks by Indians. Later after the Declaration of
Independence, it was militias that fought the British in the Revolutionary War. Militias have
been a noble tradition throughout America's history. In the past there have been those who
have claimed to be militias, but in fact were religious extremists or racists. These groups
absolutely are NOT militias and have only served in discrediting and giving a bad name to
militias. Militias by their nature include ALL the people and do not discrimiinate.
Is the Militia Legal?
Invariably, despite all the needed proof that is plainly laid out about the legality of the militia.
This question continues to be asked. The answer is YES, it is legal. It has been so for over
200 years. It is covered under U.S.C. Title 10, Section 311a, b1-2. Furthermore it is also
covered by the right to bear arms, peaceably assemble, and freedom of speech. Moreover,
the Geneva Convention, Hague Protocols, International Law, Laws of Land Warfare, Federal
Law, and Pennsylvania State Law specifically provide for militias with or without state
recognition. The National Guard is also considered a militia, though they are no longer used
in that capacity.
The media being television, magazines, newspapers, etc., have long since persevered to
shed a bad light on militias. Some militias have experienced media harassment and on some
occasions, received hate mail. It is important to remember that the media does not represent
the beliefs of the public, but its own opinions. However, a large portion of the people are often
swayed by the media's opinion. In any case, whether or not the media supports us is irrelevant.
We represent beliefs in the right to keep and bear arms, the inalienable rights of Life, Liberty,
and The Pursuit of Happiness, Freedom and Love of Country. If being a patriot has become
so unfashionable with the general populace then so be it. We joined because these qualities,
whether popular or not, are honorable.
What The Militia is NOT
We are not Racists, Militants, Extremists, or a Cult. It cannot be stressed enough that militas
do not discriminate and they do not hate. Militias are open to all citizens regardless of race,
gender, religion, political affiliation, etc. Groups not open to public membership, and/or which
are organized for any other purpose are not militias. The militia as an organization, has no
religious theme, is not racial in nature, and does not advocate violence. We direct anyone
affiliated with these types of groups to not associate with us.
What we Mean By Everybody
We mean Everybody! Name a person or group of people and the answer is Yes.
Because they are already a part of the militia. the only people not accepted into the
militia are those not capable of bearing arms. Therefore, the only excluded individuals
are the mentally unstable and convicted felons. We really do mean everybody. We will
conduct background investigations on anyone believed to fall into these categories.
